Being the Born enthusiast you are I think you’ll love the Maita! I slipped it on here in the office today (and kept it) and I have three words. “Cute and Comfortable!” Most days I’m running around the office, to and from lunch, up and down the stairs in killer high heels. At the end of the day I’ll look forward to slipping on the Maita and giving my feet a much needed break. While it may look, and act like a flip-flop, it certainly doesn’t feel like the typical flat we run around in all summer long. Born’s traditional Opanka construction (I won’t delve into construction specifics) provides natural cushion with an extremely flexible rubber sole. It’s the perfect reprieve for my poor toes confined to dress shoes all day. I recently read a comment posted by a woman in her ninth month of pregnancy saying how much she loved the Maita and the relief it provided her feet while awaiting the arrival of her child.
This style is super casual, so it’s perfect for kicking around in on the weekends, slipping on for a quick run to the grocery store or a relaxing trip to the spa for a pedicure! It’s color palette is very natural, done in a beautiful red, maple brown, white sand, sea blue and black. If this style doesn’t quite suit you check out the Marne, it might be neck and neck as to which is my true favorite.

We’re fully into spring now, and if you live in the northeast, home of Born Shoes corporate offices, this past weekend you experienced a gorgeously warm one then. As I stepped out Saturday morning, I looked down at my feet shod in closed toes, and promptly headed back inside to slip on a pair of sandals. Wearing a floral print linen top and denim skirt made my footwear decision easy… I went with metallic. Keeping up with the numerous trends forecasted for spring can be daunting, but opting for metallic was an easy one. Use metallic as a neutral and you won’t go wrong… big prints and bold colored clothing are screaming for a great metallic sandal at the feet. My style choice, the Floris, (Oro gold metallic) a modern t-strap and in true Born fashion, naturally comfortable! It’s one of our favorite looks from the spring 2008 Crown Collection. The upper is a combination of leather and fabric with a dramatic gold insole and cork wedge with specks and flashes of gold. We know that t-straps don’t work for everyone. So, if a sandal that’s a bit more opened up would better suit you we have the Carmel or the Lusaka, and we’ve made both in metallics! (Check out the Carmel in Elle Accessories spring 2008 guide, pg. 191)
A coincidence I’m sure, but I discovered this weekend that Nordstrom.com featured the Floris in plata (silver) in a weekend email campaign. (They were highlighting metallics also.) The word from Nordstrom.com is that you liked it too… they are overwhelmed with the response the Floris is creating.
If you already have the Floris or have put it on your wish list for spring, please let us know what you think. Happy spring!

I just wanted to thank you for making such quality shoes. Up until a few months ago I thought I wore a size 10 shoe, and I would only wear athletic shoes because they were the only things I found comfortable to wear. Needless to say, wearing bulking athletic shoes made my feet look even larger, it was like having boats on my feet. READ MORE

On April 12, 2007 over 200 affluent men and women joined Esquire, Michael Barrett, the catcher for the Chicago Cubs and Born for a popular spring shopping event that brought our popular service edit to life.
Opanka Construction. By nature, it’s a “green concept”, and one that has been the signature of Børn handcrafted footwear from the beginning. Handsewn constructions require fewer adhesives and cements and fewer internal components, creating footwear that is more organic, naturally.
Børn Footwear is handcrafted by skilled artisans, not by machine. Our leathers are tanned using all-natural vegetable tanning or are tanned responsibly. Genuine leather uppers and linings are used in lieu of man-made products. Most of our outsoles are recyclable. Details and ornamentations are created using organic and natural materials. So for Børn, Organic fashion is something our consumer has appreciated all along.
The first weekend in May, Born participated in the Miami Beach Inside InStyle Magazaine Event. Our team was there to participate and it was HOT HOT HOT, but a definite success! The temperatures exceeded 100 degrees but the girls were still out in full force and lovin’ every minute!

My name is Dave Timmons. I am a teacher at a small Christian High School in Illinois, and also serve as a missionary each year in the fall. That means lots of time on my feet, and many miles of walking! I do not go anywhere without my Born Blast shoes! These shoes are the most comfortable footwear I have ever owned! Mine have lots of miles on them and are still looking good! I’m attaching a picture from last fall’s mission trip to Russia!
